WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: February 14, 2024, at 1:57 a.m.
WHERE: 7700 block of Chaseway Dr. 77489.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $860,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $300,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation (appears accidental).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy fire and smoke coming from the roof of a 2-story house. They attempted to make entry, however due to the conditions, declared a defensive attack on the fire. Once the fire was reset crews switched to an offensive attack and conducted a primary search. The utilities were controlled, and CenterPoint was requested. Firefighters extinguished the fire and with the home suffering from heavy fire damage, requested HFD Arson investigators to determine the cause and origin. The American Red Cross was notified for the residents who had safely escaped the home. 40 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 2, 59, 68, 47, 48, 59, 80, 82 and 57.
