WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: May 26, 2023 at 8:55 a.m.
WHERE: 10400 block of Castleton St. 77016.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $84,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $95,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation (appears to be accidental at this time).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the side of a 1-story house. The home appeared to be abandoned. Crews made an offensive attack and removed burglar bars to gain entrance. A primary search was conducted, and the fire was extinguished. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 32 HFD personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 15, 34, 45, 32, 43, 56 and 24.
