House Fire in The Central Northwest Area

WHAT: House Fire

WHEN: March 2, 2022 at 4:07 a.m.

WHERE: 3900 block of Ella Blvd, 77018

INJURIES: No reported injuries.

PROPERTY SAVED: $200 thousand in estimated property saved.

DAMAGE: $170 thousand in estimated damage.

CAUSE: Unintentional (electrical).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within seven minutes to find fire coming from a side window and attic of a house. They reset the fire and ventilated the roof. Searches were completed with seven residents safely escaping the house before HFD arrived on scene. Crews extinguished the fire within 15 minutes and the power company was notified to pull the meter. A space heater was plugged into an extension cord which caught fire. A resident attempted to put the fire out however, it spread too quickly. The American Red Cross was requested to assist the family. Firefighters from Stations 2, 4, 13, 31, 62 and 67 responded to this incident.
