2-Alarm House Fire in the MacGregor Area

WHAT: 2-Alarm house fire involving 5 structures.

WHEN: March 2, 2022 at 3:11 a.m.

WHERE: 2800 block of Palm, 77004

INJURIES: One firefighter transported to the hospital for injuries related to a collapse.

DAMAGE: Not available.

CAUSE: Under investigation.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find a 2-story house heavily involved with fire with nearby structures catching fire. Crews made an attack on the fire and protected the exposures from further damage. A wall collapsed pinning a firefighter against the wall and a mayday and second alarm were requested. Crews removed the debris, and the firefighter was transported to the hospital. Five structures were involved with varying degrees of damage from damaged windows to severe fire and water damage with some collapse. The original house was a total loss with extensive fire damage and a collapse. Firefighters fully extinguished and tapped the fire out within an hour. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. The City’s Dangerous Buildings department was also requested. Crews from Stations 25, 46, 16, 23, 6, 8, 19, 7, 17, 18, 33, 37, 30, Heavy Rescue 11, Rescue 42 and Rehab 17 responded to this incident.
