WHAT: House Fire.
WHEN: March 6, 2023 at 6:19 p.m.
WHERE: 1300 block of Sue Barnett Dr. 77018.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $1,150,000 in estimated damage.
DAMAGE: $50,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional (misuse of product or material).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find smoke coming from a residential outdoor patio with a fireplace attached. The fire was extinguished and contained to the patio. It appeared that wood had been burned in the fireplace which was designed for only gas. The excessive heat caught the internal flue and wood structure supports of the chimney on fire. Crews from Stations 30, 6, 31, 13 and 50 responded to this incident.
