House Fire in The Central Northwest Area

WHAT: House fire with injuries.

WHEN: July 30, 2022 at 12:31 p.m.

WHERE:4400 block of Lorinda Dr. 77018.

INJURIES: Four firefighters injured.

PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.

DAMAGE: $541,190 in estimated damage.

CAUSE: Under investigation.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within three minutes to find heavy smoke and fire coming from a 1-story house, spreading to two nearby homes. They made an attack on the fire, protected the nearby exposures, and conducted primary searches. An explosion was observed on another side of the home and crews worked to contain the incident involving a third exposure. Additional units were requested, and firefighters ventilated the original home. The HFD Safety Officer noted downed power lines and an active ignited gas leak at the rear of the house. The gas leak was controlled, and the fire was fully extinguished. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. Four firefighters were injured with two transported to the hospital for burns, one transported for chest pain and the forth member left work in a private vehicle with knee pain. Crews from Stations 13, 15, 4, 31, 6, 11, 50, 58, 62, 67, 6, 90, 30 and Rehab 17 responded to this incident.
