CAUSE: Unintentional (heat source too close to combustible).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find a sofa on fire in a 1-story house. They extinguished the fire and ventilated the smoke from the home. The fire started on a hot plate and spread. The resident was advised to have the electrical outlets inspected by an electrician. Crews from Stations 82, 68, 59, 73 and 80 responded to this incident.
