CAUSE: Unintentional (failure to clean).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke coming from a 1-story fast food restaurant. They determined everyone was safely outside and entered to control the fire. Crews shut off the utilities and controlled a fire in the kitchen. They checked for extension and ensured smoldering hotspots were fully extinguished. Fans were used to remove the smoke. An employee stated they saw smoke coming from the ventilation hood above the cooking area and called 9-1-1. Firefighters remained on scene until the employees secured the building. 29 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 38, 5, 2, 50, 57 and the Village Fire Department.
