WHAT: Detached residential garage fire.
WHEN: August 20, 2023, at 1:56 p.m.
WHERE: 7600 block of Carew St. 77074.
INJURIES: One firefighter was transported to the hospital.
PROPERTY SAVED: $232,364 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $27,500 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional (abandoned or discarded materials or products).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find fire coming from a 1-story detached residential garage and made an offensive attack. They forced entry into the garage and conducted a primary search of the house. The fire was contained to the garage and was brought under control and extinguished. In addition to the garage, a nearby fence was severely damaged with the wall of a nearby shed burned. The cause appeared to be from burned charcoal disposed in the yard. One firefighter was transported to the hospital for cardiac issues. 36 personnel were dispatched to this incident, including crews from Stations 73, 82, 2, 28, 68, 10, 51, 60 and 57.
