WHAT: Church fire.
WHEN: April 27, 2023 at 5:08 a.m.
WHERE: 4105 Airline Dr. 77022.

DAMAGE: $384,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find fire coming from the rear of a church. They forced entry, removing burglar bars, however, due to the fire conditions, crews were unable to go past the doorway. Once the fire ventilated through the roof they switched to a defensive mode and within a short time a major portion of the roof collapsed. Arial and deck gun water operations were used to help control the fire and nearby structures were protected. Once the fire was controlled, firefighters searched the areas that were deemed safe. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. The church had no utilities and was vacant. Crews from Stations 30, 15, 31, 34, 6, 12, 58, 15, 24 and Heavy Rescue 11 responded to this incident.
