CAUSE: Unintentional (short circuit arc from defective, worn insulation).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find light smoke coming from a 2-story office portion of an apartment building. They made an offensive attack and forced entry. A primary search was completed with no one found. Crews pulled the ceiling and interior and exterior walls to fully extinguish the fire. The building was ventilated, and the manager was advised to leave the power off until an electrician could inspect the structure and make repairs due to extensive damage. 41 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 76, 78, 83, 57, 69, 75 and 86.
