WHAT: Apartment garage fire.
WHEN: February 16, 2023 at 1:14 a.m.
WHERE: 915 Silber Rd. 77024.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $6,375,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $125,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental (engine compartment fire in vehicle).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find smoke coming the underground garage of a 2-story apartment building. They located and quickly controlled the fire. The residents were moved to a safe area and the smoke was ventilated from the garage and building. The fire was contained to the garage with damage to six cars. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause of the fire. Crews from Stations 2, 5, 28, 11, 38, 50, 62, 57 and The Village Fire Department responded to this incident.
