WHAT: Apartment fire.
WHEN: April 27, 2023 at 6:15 a.m.
WHERE: 5001 Laura Koppe Rd. 77016.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $155,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $6,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Act of nature (lightning).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find smoke and fire coming from the eaves of an apartment building and made an offensive attack. A primary search was conducted crews helped several residents safely out of their unit. They extinguished the fire and contained it to the attic and a bathroom. It was determined that a lightning strike caused the fire. Firefighters from Stations 34, 19, 20, 8, 45, 56 and 24 responded to this incident.
