WHAT: Apartment fire.

INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $505,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $45,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Failure of equipment or heat source (electrical).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within three minutes to find smoke coming from a third-floor apartment unit. They made an offensive attack and conducted a primary search. The power was shut off and the roof was ventilated. Crews applied water from the roof and inside the unit until the fire was controlled with no heat or smoke conditions. Apartment management responded to assist with removing water from the unit and units below. The American Red Cross also made the scene to assist the residents. 30 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 5, 4, 38, 49, 77, 6 and the Village Fire Department.
