WHAT: Apartment fire.

CAUSE: Unintentional.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find heavy fire coming from an apartment building. They made a defensive attack on the fire side, an offensive attack on the unburned side and conducted a primary search. Aerial operations were set up to control the fire from the exterior. The utilities were secured, and rehab was set up for the crews to rotate. The fire was controlled with crews preventing the spread of the fire, saving at least eight apartment units. The American Red Cross was requested to assist the impacted families. HFD Arson investigators determined that a propane grill was being used as a charcoal grill and caused the fire. 47 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 84, 15, 31, 64, 58, 67, 74, 96, 30, Rehab 17 and the Aldine Fire Department.
