PROPERTY SAVED: $30,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $70,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find smoke coming from the ridge vent of a 2-story apartment building. They pulled ceiling and checked void spaces with the fire coming from the exterior of the second-floor landing near a stairwell. After the fire was extinguished, it was determined that crews had been performing hot welding to the stairwell where most of the damage was noted. Firefighters from Stations 59, 48 and 82 responded to this incident.
