INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $50,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $125,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional (cooking).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find smoke and fire coming from a 2-story apartment. They made an offensive attack and cleared the surrounding apartment units. The roof was ventilated, and a primary search was completed. The crews extinguished the fire and determined that it started in the kitchen while the resident was cooking and spread to the second floor. The American Red Cross and apartment management were contacted to assist the resident. Firefighters from Stations 2, 59, 68, 48, 51 and 3 responded to this incident.
