CAUSE: Unintentional.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find a partially extinguished kitchen fire in an apartment. They used a water pump can to fully extinguish it and conducted searches to ensure everyone was safely outside. A fan was used to ventilate the unit and HFD EMS units treated and transported the resident to the hospital for burns. The fire caused significant damage to the kitchen area, with heat and smoke damage to the entire unit. Building maintenance was on site to ensure the property was secure and provided fans to other residents to ventilate the burn smell from their units. Firefighters from Stations 37, 21, 46, 33 and 48 responded to this incident.
