WHAT: Animal stall fire
WHEN: February 4, 2022 at 5:10 p.m.
WHERE: 8200 block of Green River, 77028
INJURIES: One deceased dog, several inquired dogs.
PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.
DAMAGE: $32.5 thousand in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find covered animal stalls in the back of a property on fire. While working to extinguish the fire, crews gained access to the stalls and let the dogs out of the stalls, many of which were burned. EMS crews treated one dog with oxygen and another dog perished. Space heaters were being used to keep the dogs warm with extension cords visible. Firefighters from Stations 15, 34, 45, 32, 39, 43, 56 and 30 responded to this incident.
