Houston police are asking for the public’s help in the fatal shooting of a male that was located at 1001 West Loop South (West Interstate Highway 610 South) about 6:05 p.m. on Sept. 29 and the fatal shooting of a second male that was located at 7300 Clinton Drive about 9:45 a.m. on Oct. 2. Investigators believe the victims’ deaths may have occurred at the same time.
The first victim is identified as Carlos Tzep Ajpop, 20, and was discovered on Sept. 29. The second male, Oliver Ortiz, 20, was located on Oct. 2. Photos of both victims are attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants J. Campbell and A. Dudley reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a report of a deceased male in a body of water at 1001 West Loop South. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene. According to the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, autopsy results determined the male sustained a gunshot wound.
On Friday, Oct. 2, officers responded to a report of a deceased male in a body of water near 7300 Clinton Drive. The body was recovered and investigation revealed this victim had also sustained a gunshot wound.
Further investigation determined both males were last seen together at 8701 Town Park on Sept. 27. It is believed they left that location, in their own vehicles, but were traveling together when they were reported missing. They may have participated in local car meet-ups. Both men’s vehicles were located near the 10500 block of Keegan Road. Both men had visible signs of trauma and investigators believe both cases are likely connected.
