UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Stabbing at 8047 Grow Lane

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a juvenile female at 8047 Grow Lane about 7:50 p.m. on February 4.

The male juvenile suspect, 10, was referred to the Harris County Juvenile Probation Authorities on a charge of murder. The name and photo of the juvenile suspect is not releasable.

The victim is identified as Riley Dearmas, 13.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Herrera and G. Herrera reported:

Officers responded to a stabbing call at the above address and located a juvenile female suffering from a stab wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported her to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Further investigation determined there was an altercation between two groups of individuals, including the juvenile female, at the location which led to the female suffering a stab wound.

A juvenile male,10, was detained at the scene and released pending further investigation.

After further investigation, the male was charged for his role in the incident on March 31. On April 22, members of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team arrested the male in Charlotte, North Carolina.
