Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash in the 6700 block of South Loop East (South Interstate Highway 610) about 12 a.m. on Tuesday (April 14).
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Sudduth and Officer T. Hudson reported:
A silver Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound on the freeway when the male driver, 24, noticed someone in the main lanes. The driver attempted to swerve out of the way but was unable to avoid the pedestrian, striking him. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene. He did not show signs of intoxication and was questioned and released.
The investigation is ongoing.
