Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 8100 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) service road about 9:15 a.m. today (April 4).
The identity of the deceased male, 20, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Alejandro and Officer M. Keita reported:
The male was operating a red Ducati motorcycle northbound on Wirt Road when, according to witnesses, the motorcyclist ran a red light at the intersection of Wirt and Katy Freeway service road. He was struck by a white Freightliner tractor trailer truck traveling westbound on the Katy Freeway service road. The motorcyclist was ejected and was struck by a white Lexus RX 350.
Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene. No other persons were injured.
The driver of the 18-wheeler, who remained at the scene, was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released.
