WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: February 19, 2024, at 7:04 p.m.
WHERE: 3400 block of Redbud St. 77051.
INJURIES: One child evaluated on scene by HFD EMS.
PROPERTY SAVED: $98,500 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $100,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental (unspecified electrical malfunction in radio).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find smoke coming from a second-story window of a house. They made an offensive attack and conducted a primary search. The occupants safely escaped the home after being alerted by smoke alarms. The fire was found in a bedroom and quickly extinguished with minimal extension into the attic. CenterPoint was notified and the American Red Cross was contacted for the family. A child was evaluated on scene by HFD EMS. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. 33 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 23, 21, 46, 25, 35, 24 and 55.
