WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: February 6, 2024, at 3:48 a.m.
WHERE: 1500 block of Tarberry Rd. 77088.
INJURIES: One civilian evaluated on scene.
PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.
DAMAGE: $30,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional (unspecified short circuit).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find fire coming from the roof of a house and made an offensive attack. They conducted a primary search and ventilated the roof. The utilities were secured, and the fire was extinguished. One civilian was evaluated by HFD EMS on scene. The American Red Cross was requested, and crews covered the hole in the roof with plastic. The fire originated around a garage wall where a clothes dryer was being used. The residents smelled smoke and pulled the dryer from the wall to find the fire. 32 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 15, 31, 58 and 67.
