| Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 11400 South Gessner Road about 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday (October 3).
The identity of the deceased female, 21, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer T. Smith reported:
The woman was a passenger in a red Chevrolet Camaro traveling northbound near the above address. The male driver failed to stay in a single lane and struck the curb of a grassy median. The Camaro then spun and the passenger side struck a tree in the median. The vehicle split in two pieces and then burst into flames.
The woman was pronounced deceased by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics. The driver, 20, was determined not to be impaired and was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
