Houston police are asking for the public’s help in locating a person of interest wanted for questioning in the fatal shooting of a man at 7550 Long Point Road about 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday (March 28).
The person of interest is described as a Hispanic male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. A surveillance photo of the person of interest, who is not charged in this case, is attached to this news release.
The identity of the victim, 43, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives S. Chettry, H. Martinez and K. Stringer reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting in a strip center parking lot at the above address and found the victim unresponsive and lying on the ground. He had sustained a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the man to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
A preliminary investigation indicated an unknown suspect(s) was involved in an armed robbery in the same strip center and the victim may have attempted to stop the suspect(s) from fleeing.
Further investigation identified a person of interest, pictured below, wanted for questioning. Homicide detectives believe the person of interest has direct knowledge of the circumstances of this case.
