Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 2950 West Sam Houston Parkway South service road (Beltway 8) about 10:15 p.m. on May 27, 2022.
The suspect, Charles Hamlin, 28, is charged with murder in the 351st State District Court. He is accused in the death of Andre Garner, 32.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Roberts and Detective L. Lange reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at a motel parking lot at the above address and found Mr. Garner unresponsive on a sidewalk. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased.
Further investigation determined Garner and a male suspect were arguing when the suspect pulled out a gun, shot Garner and then fled on foot.
Three surveillance photos of the suspect, previously released to the public on June 13, 2022, are attached to this news release.
Further investigation identified Hamlin as the suspect in this case and, on January 11, he was arrested by officers with the HPD Westside Patrol Division Tactical Unit. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted and, last Friday (January 13), Hamlin was charged for his involvement in Garner’s death.
