Investigation into Fatal Crash at 6200 Rampart Street

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 6200 Rampart Street about 9:30 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 15).

The identity of the deceased male, 73, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Le and Officer C. Brothers reported:

A tan Toyota Tundra pickup truck was traveling northbound at the above address and swerved to his right to avoid a vehicle traveling eastbound on Elm Street.  The Toyota continued to the other side of the intersection and struck a male pedestrian attempting to cross Elm Street, not in a crosswalk.  Paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene. 

The male driver, 74, of the Toyota was not injured.  He was questioned, did not show signs of intoxication and was released.  The investigation is continuing.
