The suspect. Nathan Nichols, 30, is charged with capital murder in the 176th State District Court.  He is accused in the death of Kendall Lee, 47, of the above address.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Clark and M. Nicotra reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex at the above address and found Mr. Lee unresponsive in a stairwell.  He had been shot multiple times.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Lee deceased.

A preliminary investigation indicated a physical altercation had occurred during a possible home invasion/robbery attempt, which then led to multiple shots being fired by unknown suspects.

Further investigation identified Nichols as the suspect in this case and, on July 14, a capital murder charge was filed.  On Tuesday (July 19), Nichols was arrested by Beaumont Police Department officers without incident.  He remains in custody in the Jefferson County Jail.
