WHAT: Strip Center Fire

INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $350 thousand in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $600 thousand in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find heavy smoke coming from the roof of a strip center. They made an offensive attack and ventilated the building. Within about ten minutes the roof began sagging and a defensive attack was declared. All firefighters exited the building, and two additional units were requested. The fire was controlled, and crews were able to reenter and complete extinguishment just before 3 a.m. A primary search was conducted with no one found. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. Firefighters from Stations 37, 21, 46, 3, 24, 48, 33 and 37 responded to this incident.
