Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of two others that occurred at 12008 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) service road about 11:10 p.m. on November 2.
The suspect, David Vargas (H/m, 30), is charged with murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 337th State District Court. A booking photo of Vargas is not being released at this time, pending further investigation.
He is accused in the death of Michael Zimbrich, 26, and the wounding of Demarius Moore, 29, and Kevin Cicero, 27.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives C. Flora and J. Flores reported:
The three victims, each operating a motorcycle, left the parking lot of a business at the above address and traveled eastbound on the service road when a black SUV pulled up next to them. One or more persons inside the vehicle fired multiple shots at the victims, striking all three of them. One victim, Mr. Zimbrich, crashed his motorcycle and was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The two other victims were also transported to a hospital in stable condition.
The suspects were described only as four Hispanic males in a black SUV.
Further investigation identified Vargas as a suspect in this case and, on Tuesday (Dec. 14), he was arrested and charged for his role in this incident.
