Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another at 2100 Sakowitz Street about 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 24).
The identity of the deceased victim, 25, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The other victim, Luis Roy Almendarez, 41, was suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Duncan and Detectives J. Campbell and H. Horne reported:
Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at the above address and were told the two victims were walking down the roadway when unknown suspects in a dark colored truck began shooting at the men. One of the victims was struck multiple times. Paramedics transported him to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The other victim, Mr. Almendarez, refused medical treatment.
There is no known motive or suspect description in the shooting at this time.
