Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 7302 Hurtgen Forest Drive about 10 p.m. on Sunday.
The suspect, Victor Wayne Louis (b/m, 25), is charged with murder in the 339th State District Court for his role in the killing of Zachary Marquis McFarlin, 27. A 2020 booking photo of Louis is attached to this news release. He is not in custody.
One other person of interest is being sought for questioning in the case. A surveillance photo of that male wearing a white T-shirt, white pants and white sneakers is attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Hernandez and A. Ferrell reported:
Officers responded to a report of a shooting at a convenience store at the above address and found Mr. McFarlin lying unresponsive in the entrance to the store. The investigation revealed McFarlin walked out of the business into a small crowd of people. He was then immediately confronted by an unidentified suspect, who produced a pistol and began shooting. McFarlin was struck multiple times.
The suspect then fled the location on foot before getting into a 2015 brown (or golden metallic) Infinity Q50 with Texas license plates MHK5626. The vehicle was last seen driving on Doolittle Boulevard.
Further investigation led to the identity of Louis as the suspect in this case and he was subsequently charged. Investigators are no longer looking to identify a male person of interest seen in a video wearing a white shirt and white or gray shorts.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Victor Louis and the person of interest is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
