Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 12100 Martin Luther King Boulevard about 4 a.m. on Sunday (June 27).
The identity of the victim, 26, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer T. Phillips reported:
The victim was driving a black Hyundai Elantra southbound at the above address when he failed to maintain a single lane and struck a tree. Both he and his female passenger, 22, were injured but survived the crash. They both exited the Hyundai and the victim was standing in a moving lane of traffic when he was struck by a black Lincoln sedan. The driver of the Lincoln fled without stopping to render aid. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics. Paramedics transported the female passenger to an area hospital in stable condition.
