Charges have been filed against a second suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of two men at 2100 Johnson Street about 11 p.m. on Sunday (March 1).
The male juvenile suspect, 16, has been referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on a capital murder charge. Another suspect, Daniel Puccio (w/m, 19), is in custody and charged with capital murder in the 180th State District Court.
Both are accused in the death of Tristan Youngs, 23. The second deceased male has been identified as Tomas Amieza-Mejia, 18.
A booking photo of Puccio is attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Horn and Detective J. Escobar reported:
Mr. Youngs agreed to meet with Puccio at the above address to sell narcotics. During the transaction, Puccio fled on foot. Youngs was confronted by Amiez-Mejia and the 16-year-old male, who ran up to the vehicle from a nearby vacant residence. Youngs exchanged gunfire with Amiez-Mejia, who died at the scene. Youngs was transported to St. Joseph’s Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.
A preliminary investigation identified Puccio as a suspect in this case and he was later detained. Puccio admitted to homicide investigators he contacted the victim to purchase narcotics and intended to rob the victim of his money.
Further investigation identified the 16-year-old male as a second suspect in this case. He was arrested today (March 5) and has been charged for his involvement in this incident.
Anyone with additional information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
