Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the shooting of a man at 12100 Homestead Road about 11:40 p.m. on June 29.
The suspects, Kaliyah Ryans (b/f, 22) and Kwan Tayes (b/m, 21), are charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in the 209th State District Court. Booking photos of both suspect are not releasable at this time, pending further investigation. .
Both are accused in the shooting of Chauncy Shaw, 37, who suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to an area hospital in an unknown condition.
HPD Major Assaults and Family Violence Division Officers G. Black and A. Hernandez reported:
Mr. Shaw and Kaliyah Ryans met on a dating website and she picked him up for a date. Once inside Kaliyah’s vehicle, Kwan Tayes demanded money from Shaw at gunpoint. Shaw complied, then pulled out his own weapon to shoot Kwan, who returned fired. Both men were transported to area hospitals with gunshot wounds. Kaliyah was not injured.
Tayes and Ryans were subsequently charged for their roles in the incident.
Investigators believe Tayes and Kaliyah Ryans are responsible for other similar incidents in the Houston area and urge anyone who may have been a victim or have additional information in this case to contact the HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division at 713-308-8800.
