3rd UPDATE: Surveillance Photos of Vehicle Sought in 2022 Fatal Shooting at 7408 South Sam Houston Parkway West

Houston police have released surveillance photos of a vehicle involved in the fatal shooting of a man at 7408 South Sam Houston Parkway West service road (Beltway 8) about 12:50 p.m. on March 5, 2022.

The vehicle is described as a gold or tan Buick sedan.  Surveillance photos of the vehicle are attached to this news release.

The victim, Phillip J. Rogers, 42, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Heaverlo and A. Dudley reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a business parking lot at the above address and found Mr. Rogers in the driver’s seat of a truck, suffering from gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced Rogers deceased.

At the time, there was no known motive or suspect(s).  A person of interest, Deonte Thomas, 41, was initially wanted for questioning.  Detectives made contact with Mr. Thomas and determined he was not involved in any wrongdoing in the incident.

Further investigation developed information on the wanted vehicle.  Detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating the vehicle and/or suspect(s).
