3-Alarm Apartment Fire in The Mid West Area

 

WHAT: 3-Alarm Apartment Fire

WHEN: February 17, 2022 at 8:26 p.m.

INJURIES: No reported injuries.

PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.

DAMAGE: $1,750,000 in estimated damage.

CAUSE: Under investigation.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes for a report of a check water flow alarm (fire sprinkler system) to find fire coming from the third floor of a 3-story apartment building. They conducted a primary search while initiating an attack on the fire. A second alarm and defensive attack was requested at about 9:45 p.m. as crews reported the fire had spread to an exposure, and shortly after that, a third alarm was requested for additional manpower. The fire was fully controlled and extinguished at about 10:30 p.m.. Approximately 50 to 60 units were affected due to electricity, water, or smoke damage and the American Red Cross was contact to assist the residents. Metro responded with several buses to provide warming stations and CenterPoint was notified to control the utilities. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Firefighters from Stations 28, 2, 15, 5, 68, 3, 48, 51, 60, 69, 24, Rescue 10, the HFD Command Van and The Village Fire Department responded to this incident.
