*Additional information (in bold) from homicide detectives:
During the preliminary investigation on January 27, detectives seized Mr. James Martin’s Toyota Prius (located in the garage) and towed the vehicle to the HPD Vehicle Examination Building to be processed for any biological evidence.
Detectives were not originally clear on Mr. Martin’s involvement in this case, either as a potential suspect or a victim.
Due to those facts, detectives refrained from entering Martin’s vehicle and drafted a search warrant for the car, at the direction of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. Once the search warrant was executed on the Toyota, the body of an adult male was found in the trunk of the vehicle on February 1.
The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences later confirmed the identity of the deceased male as Mr. Martin.
Detectives do not have any suspect information to release at this time.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or speak anonymously with Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS.
