Winter Reading Program Sweet Reads at the Houston Public Library December 20, 2017 – January 8, 2018

HOUSTON - It’s the holiday season and sweet treats are all around! Kids can satisfy their sweet tooth with deliciously good reading over their winter break by joining the Houston Public Library’s (HPL) Winter Reading Program. If they read 10 minutes a day for 10 days they’ll earn a sweet prize. Prizes will be awarded at their neighborhood library January 2 - 13, 2018. This free program is for youth ages 0-18.

Registration is easy! Visit www.houstonlibrary.org and click on the registration button at the bottom of the page and then follow the prompts. If kids signed up for HPL’s Summer Reading Program, then they can log in to their account and click on the button to register.

Here's how kids can participate:

Read at least 10 minutes in one day. Log in the time

Read 10 days to complete the program.

Visit their local HPL location to pick up their prize. (Prizes available while supplies last.)

Check the HPL online calendar for fun events they can go to.

Kids can read anything they like! Books, comics, newspapers, magazine articles, blogs, web pages, listen to an audio book or have someone read to them. All of these types of reading count. To get more suggestions, kids can check out the "Recommendations" tab in their Beanstack account for Book Lists, or ask your librarian.
