WHAT: Vacant Apartment Building Fire

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within seven minutes to find heavy fire coming from an end of the first and second floors of a vacant apartment building. Crews were delayed by a gate and security fence. Once inside the complex, crews made an attack on the fire and conducted a primary search. Aerial operations were used to control the fire, while firefighters protected nearby units and conducted primary searches to ensure they were clear. The building was ventilated, and the fire was fully extinguished. HPD was requested from traffic control and the power company secured a downed power line. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Firefighters from 84, 64, 74, 67, 31, 15 and Aldine Fire Department responded to this incident.
