Charges have been filed against two suspects in the death of a man found at 12100 Murr Way about 5:45 p.m. on March 23.
The suspects, Manuel Antonio Rivas (H/m, 21) and Isaiah Nealy (b/m, 20), are charged with capital murder in the 263rd State District Court. Both are accused in the death of Jedediah Humphreys, 20 of Houston. Mr. Humphreys suffered gunshot wounds and died at the scene.
Photos of both suspects are attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Officers M. Dykens and J. Fay reported:
A juvenile was walking home from school through an open field near a park when he smelled a foul odor and saw dirty clothing. The juvenile continued home, called 9-1-1, and led officers to the site. Officers found the body of a man, later determined to be Humphreys, in advanced decomposition.
A preliminary investigation determined Humphreys met with two male suspects to conduct a narcotics transaction. He was robbed at gunpoint and then fatally shot while inside the suspects' vehicle. Humphreys was then driven to the above location where his body was left in a heavily wooded area behind a public park.
Further investigation identified Rivas and Nealey, who were in the Harris County Jail on unrelated charges, as suspects in this case and on Thursday (July 6), both were subsequently charged.
