UPDATE: Suspects Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 2718 Scott Street

Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 2718 Scott Street about 11 a.m. on May 30.

The suspects, Angelo Davis Camp, 22, and Roland Davis, 24, are charged with murder in the 208th and 177th State District Courts, respectively. Davis is also charged with child endangerment. Their booking photos are attached to this news release.

The males are accused in the death of Derrick Delane, 30.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Collier and J. Stroble reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the parking lot of a convenience store at the above address and learned Mr. Delane had been shot after a physical fight outside the store.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Delane deceased.

Further investigation identified Camp and Davis as the suspects in this incident. Investigators learned Camp was involved in a fight with Delane, produced a gun and then fired at least one shot.  Davis, Camp’s brother, became aware of the confrontation and also produced a gun and fired. Delane was fatally injured. Surveillance video footage showed Davis was holding a 2-year-old family member as  he shot at the victim.

HPD officers arrested Camp on June 3. Davis fled Houston after his brother’s arrest. He was arrested on Monday (June 13) in Mansfield, Texas. He is awaiting extradition back to Harris County. Both suspects were subsequently charged for their roles in the incident.
