Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another at 14838 Park Row about 6:05 p.m. on April 2.
The suspects, Derek Singleton (b/m, 22) and Joseph Williams (b/m, 44), are charged with capital murder in the 182nd State District Court. Both are accused in the death of Eric Soniat, 22. A second victim, Jordan Broussard, 26, was transported to an area hospital in an unknown condition.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives E. Rossow and L. Patterson reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot of a motel at the above address and learned four males were conducting a narcotics transaction in the parking lot. Two of the males decided to rob and shoot the other two males inside the vehicle. Messrs. Broussard and Soniat were shot. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported both men to the hospital. The suspects fled the scene.
Further investigation identified Singleton and Williams as suspects in this case. Singleton was arrested on April 3 and subsequently charged for his role in the shooting. Singleton was currently on probation for felony evading in a motor vehicle. Williams was arrested on Thursday (April 15) and charged for his involvement.
