Houston police have arrested two suspects charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 12221 Fleming Drive that occurred about 8 p.m. on October 14, 2024.
Erick Bernando Romero Cruz, 17, is charged with murder in the 230th State District Court. A booking photo of Cruz is attached to this news release.
An additional male suspect, 16, was referred to the Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on a murder charge. Names and booking photos of juvenile suspects are not releasable.
The victim is identified as Ivan Bernandez-Altamirano, 18.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives R. Waterwall and C. Vaughn reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address and found an unresponsive man with multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the man deceased.
According to witnesses, two unknown male suspects were seen fleeing the scene on foot. At the time, there was no known motive for the shooting. Further investigation identified Erick Romero Cruz and the 16-year-old male as suspects in this case. Both suspects were arrested and subsequently charged.
During the course of the investigation, detectives identified two additional juvenile male suspects, ages 15 and 16 at the time of the incident. Both were referred to the Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on aggravated assault charges. Names and booking photos of juvenile suspects are not releasable.
