Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the shooting of a man at 1302 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) service road about 2:30 a.m. on July 25.
The suspect, Damarian Blake (b/m, 29), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 337th State District Court. He is not in custody. A previous 2021 booking photo of Blake is attached to this news release.
The victim, Terrance Lane, 28, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives J. Cimeni and D. Crandall reported:
Investigators learned the suspect arrived at a convenience store and was approached by Mr. Lane in the parking lot. Lane struck the suspect one time with his head and then punched the suspect in the face. The suspect then produced a handgun and fired multiple shots at Lane, striking him in the chest, arm and abdomen.
The suspect, described only as a slim black male wearing a red sweatband on his head, a red T-shirt, blue jeans, and white and red shoes, fled the scene.
Further investigation identified Blake as the suspect in this case and he was subsequently charged.
