Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 11573 South Wilcrest Drive about 4:35 a.m. on June 24.
The suspect, Jose Luis Aviles (H/m, 23), is charged with murder in the 208th State District Court. A photo of Aviles, as well as a previously released surveillance photo is attached to this news release.
He is charged in the death of Jesus Aviles-Macedo, 44.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Holbrook and Detective J. Roscoe and Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective R. Rivera reported:
Mr. Aviles-Macedo was inside the “La Oficina” bar at the above address when he was shot by another patron, Jose Aviles. Alviles-Macedo died at the scene.
A preliminary investigation by HPD Homicide and Major Assaults & Family Division detectives determined Aviles was also involved in a shooting incident at 11658 Southwest Freeway on August 7, 2016, in which shots were fired at a security guard. In that incident, Aviles got into an altercation with the security guard and left the scene in a vehicle. He then returned in another vehicle armed with a gun and fired several shots at the security guard, but did not strike him. Aviles has been charged with aggravated assault of a security officer in the 208th District Court for his role in that incident.
