UPDATE: Suspect Charged, Wanted in July Fatal Shooting at 9263 Gulf Freeway  

Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of four other men at 9263 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) service road about 4:30 a.m. on July 23.

The suspect, Roger Valdes, 21, is charged with murder and four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 248th State District Court. He is not in custody. A photo of Valdes is attached to this news release.

He is accused in the fatal shooting of Israel Gonzalez, 22.

The four other male victims range in age from 20 to 28.  All were treated and released from area hospitals.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Lopez and Detective C. Bowling reported:

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call outside an after-hours bar at the above address and found multiple persons with gunshot wounds.  Paramedics transported three victims to area hospitals.  One male, identified as Mr. Gonzalez, was later pronounced deceased.  A fourth victim was transported in a private vehicle to a hospital.  A fifth victim, with a gunshot wound to the foot, refused medical attention at the scene.

Further investigation identified Valdes as the suspect in this case. He was charged for his role in the shooting on Monday (Aug. 14).
