UPDATE: Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Stabbing at 7000 Bissonnet Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal stabbing of a man at 7000 Bissonnet Street about 5:25 p.m. on Saturday (July 10).

The suspect, Osmin Menjivar-Cortez (H/m, 25), is charged with capital murder and burglary of a habitation in the 177th State District Court.  He is accused in the death of Robert Campos, in his 20s.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives L. Patterson and A. Thompson reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a disturbance with a weapon call at an apartment complex at the above address and found a male with lacerations to his arm.  A female witness told officers another male with multiple stab wounds was inside the apartment.  Officers entered the apartment and found the victim, later identified as Mr. Campos, unresponsive.

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Campos deceased.  Witnesses stated three males forced their way into the apartment and assaulted Campos and his girlfriend.  Friends of Campos arrived at the scene to help and were also injured in the assault.  One of the suspects is believed to be the ex-boyfriend of the victim’s girlfriend.

The suspects, described only as three Hispanic males, fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan, possibly a Chevrolet Impala.

Further investigation identified one of the suspects as Menjivar-Cortez.  He remains at large.
